Specializing in publications (journal selection, academic journals, practitioner journals, first submissions, revise and resubmit); grant proposals (first submissions, re-submissions); and reports.

Rates are determined by project. I do not charge for our initial meeting (1 – 2 hours) to determine your needs.

Developmental/Conceptual

  • Big picture. Reviewing the text at the level of ideas, arguments, and their arrangement
  • Flow. Revising the text as needed to enhance logical flow, pacing, and persuasiveness
  • Development. Reviewing the content of the text and flagging areas in need of additional development
  • Review memo (optional). Authors may request an in-depth review memo that identifies the piece’s strengths and weaknesses, and suggests strategies for moving forward.
  • Feedback is provided in-text using Tracked Changes in a Word document or via a Collaboration tool (e.g., Google Docs, OneDrive), as well as externally in margin comments, e-mail, and/or review memo.

Copyediting/Proofreading

  • Grammar. Checking the text for spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure
  • Consistency. Reviewing the text for consistency and noting missing and repeated words
  • Refining. Enhancing basic style and language flow
  • Formatting. Bringing text in line with word limits
  • References/citations (upon request). Formatting citations, notes, and references
  • Completed in-text using the Tracked Changes in a Word document or via a Collaboration tool (e.g., Google Docs, OneDrive)

Resubmission/Revision

  • Reviewing. Previous versions of the text
  • In-depth understanding. Of peer review comments and any additional correspondences between writer and reviewers
  • Response letter. Developing a plan for a letter that addresses each comment
  • Revising text. Developmental/conceptual text editing informed by the reviews
  • Maximizing your chances. That the re-submission will be accepted
  • Accomplished via meetings, memos, and/or in-text comments in a Word document or via a Collaboration tool (e.g., Google Docs, OneDrive)

Writing Coaching/Consulting

  • Helping select the appropriate academic or practitioner journals
  • Aiding with topic and research question(s) development
  • Assisting with conceptualization of article sections (Introduction, literature review, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, etc.)
  • Helping develop grant proposal sections (e.g., purpose, background, objectives/aims, evaluation, workplan, logic models, impacts)
  • Accomplished through individual meetings via Zoom, e-mail, or phone to discuss the writing process, develop a writing plan, and set goals and deadlines
