Program and Project Evaluation
D Cubed conducts formative and summative evaluations for small- and medium-scale projects.
- Program evaluations answer essential questions, such as “Is a program being run as intended?” and “How effective is a program to meet its goals and objectives?“
- For a brief description of the most common types of evaluations, see this page.
The most productive evaluations begin at the grant planning stage.
- However, the evaluation process can begin at the timepoint best suited for the client.
Most evaluations contain the following basic elements:
Planning and Designing the Evaluation
- What are the goals of the program or project?
- What are the measurable outcomes for each component of the project?
- How will the evaluation measure the outcomes?
- What time points and deadlines will maximize evaluation usefulness for the project leader?
Developing Instruments (including but not limited to the following)
- Developing or locating appropriate surveys, assessment tools; interview and focus group protocols; observation forms; document review forms
- Validating instruments, when appropriate
Collection and Analyzing Data (qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods)
- Using multiple method, multiple sources approach
- Deploying survey, interview, focus group, document review, and observation instruments
- Applying appropriate analysis techniques for different types of data
Reporting
- Submitting comprehensive reports at appropriate time intervals
- Working with project leaders to provide feedback in the most useful and relevant way, at multiple stages of a project.
